Abelia, Glossy...Abelia Grandiflora...Suitable for Zones 5-8. Grows to 8 ft. tall and 5-6 ft. wide. Full sun
Sea Pink...Armeria Alliacea...Suitable for Zones 5-7. Grows 2-6 inches tall with flower stems that may reach 8" tall. Requires excellent drainage, perfect for rock gardens and borders. Full sun
Baptisia Australis...False Indigo...Suitable for Zones 5-8. Grows to 3-6 ft. tall. Flowers are blue hence the name "indigo". Full sun
Berberis Thunbergii...Japanese Barberry...Suitable for Zones 4-8. Has graceful, spiny branches that, if not pruned back, can reach 4-6 ft. tall and 4-6 ft. wide. Full sun
Bignonia...Native Crossvine... Suitable for Zones 5-7. Climbs up to 30 ft. by hold-fast discs and tendrils. 2" trumpet flowers are typically a burnt orange with a burgundy throat. Flowers in spring. Naturalizes by growing up trees, likes full sun to part shade.
Buddleia Davidii...Butterfly Bush... Suitable for Zones 4-7. Grows up to 10 ft. high and 4-5 ft. wide. Flowers are deep purple. In colder zones plant may freeze back to ground but will come back up in the spring. A favorite for butterfly gardens.

Campsis Radicans, Common Trumpet Creeper...Native to Southeastern United States...Hardy to Zone 4-8...a hard frost will kill plant down to the ground but it will return in the spring when the ground warms. Hundreds of trumpet shaped orange flowers burst from stems in clusters. Spreads easily, prune to maintain. Provide strong support as vine is quite prolific.
Caryopteris Clandonesis, Bluebeard...Hardy Zones 4-8...if frozen will die back to ground but will provide new shoots for flowering when warmer weather arrives. Sometimes called a blue spirea, this pretty shrub will bring that sought after blue color in your landscape. Grows 2ft tall and wide. Must have good drainage to survive.
Clematis Dioscoreifolia, Sweet Autumn Clematis...A Japanese native vine, Sweet Autumn is a vigorous grower. In late summer masses of cream-white flowers fade to seed tufts that provide visual interest of their own. Self-seeds. Hardy Zones 4-8. Regular pruning is recommended to keep vine within decent bounds.
Deutzia Scabra...Godsall (or Codsall in some books) Pink. Native to Japan, grows 7-10 ft. tall and 3-4 ft wide. Hardy Zones 5-8. Hundreds of pink/white frilly flowers cover the shrub in mid-spring. Mature stems will show attractive exfoliating bark which creates winter-time interest.
Euonymus Alata "Compacta"...Dwarf Burning Bush. Hardy Zone 5-8. Left unpruned creates beautiful globe shaped shrub that turns brilliant red in fall. Some species may be invasive.
Euonymus Kiautschovica...Manhattan Euonymus. Hardy Zones 6-8. Glossy ovate leaves, grows to 10 ft. if left unpruned. Makes a great hedge.
Forsythia Lynwood Gold...Grows to 7 ft tall, 3-4 ft. wide. One of the earliest spring shrubs to flower. Bright gold flowers appear before shrub leaves out. May fail to flower if exposed to extreme cold, generally hardy to zone 4 with some blossom loss.
